Nielsen, Riccardo (1908-1982)

Italian composer of Scandinavian descent. He studied at the Liceo Musicale of Bologna and at Salzburg, and was influenced by Alfredo Casella.

Works Stage the monodrama L'Incubo (1948), radio opera La via di Colombo (1953), incidental music for Maria ed il Nazzareno.

Orchestral psalms for male voices and orchestra (1941), concerto for orchestra (1936), two symphonies (1933, 1935), capriccio and Sinfonia concertante for piano and orchestra, violin concerto (1932), divertimento for bassoon, trumpet, violin, viola, and cello; trio for oboe, bassoon, and horn (1934); Adagio and Allegro for cello and 11 instruments;

Sonatas sonatas for violin and piano and cello and piano; Musica for two pianos (1939); sonata and ‘ricercare’.
