Nikkanen, Kurt (1965– )

US violinist. He studied at the Juilliard School, New York with Dorothy DeLay and made his Carnegie Hall debut in 1978. In 1980 he performed Paganini's 1st Concerto with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He made his European debut with a recital tour of Finland in 1981. His first UK appearance was in Liverpool in 1988, where he played the Elgar concerto; for his London debut in 1991 he performed the Glazunov concerto.
