Niven, (James) David (Graham) (1909–1983)

Scottish-born US film actor. A suave and sophisticated leading man, he made films in Hollywood and Britain from the 1930s, often featuring in witty comedies and war films. His films include Wuthering Heights (1939), Around the World in 80 Days (1956), Separate Tables (1958, Academy Award), The Guns of Navarone (1961), and The Pink Panther (1964).

He published two best-selling volumes of autobiography, The Moon's a Balloon (1971) and Bring on the Empty Horses (1975).
