Nivers, Guillaume (Gabriel) (c. 1631–1714)

French organist, harpsichordist, theorist, and composer. He was a pupil of Chambonnières in Paris and organist of the church of Saint-Sulpice in 1654. He was also appointed organist to the king in 1678 and music master to the queen. He wrote a treatise on singing and other theoretical works, and composed motets and other church music.
