Nizzoli, Marcello (1887–1969)

Italian industrial designer. He is best known for his innovative designs for office machines for the Olivetti company. A member of the pre-World War II generation of Italian designers, Nizzoli moved through painting and exhibition and graphic design before being brought in by Adriano Olivetti, son of the founder, 1938 to work on the company's machines.

Notable designs include the ‘Lexicon 80’ typewriter 1948 which was among the first objects to be recognized internationally as representing the emergence of a new modern design movement in post-war Italy.
