Noble, Tertius

Noble, (Thomas) Tertius (1867–1953)

English organist and composer. In 1881 he went to Colchester, where he was taught by the rector of All Saints Church, who made him organist there. In 1886 he entered the Royal College of Music, London, studying under Parratt, Bridge, and Stanford; he later joined the staff. After two smaller appointments he became organist at Ely Cathedral in 1892 and at York Minister in 1898. In 1912 he went to New York as an organist and conductor; he was active at St Thomas's Church until 1947.
