Noble, Thomas Satterwhite (1835-1907)

Noble was born in Lexington, Kentucky. He studied with Couture in Paris (1856-59), served in the Confederate Army (1862-65), established a studio in New York (1866-69), and headed the McMicken School of Design (later the Cincinnati Art Academy) (1869-1904). He studied in Munich (1881-83), and retired to Bensonhurst, Long Island (1904).
