antinode

In physics, the position in a standing wave pattern at which the amplitude of vibration is greatest (compare node). The standing wave of a stretched string vibrating in the fundamental mode has one antinode at its midpoint. A vibrating air column in a pipe has an antinode at the pipe's open end and at the place where the vibration is produced.
