Nodier, Charles (1780–1844)

French author. The early members of the French Romantic school, Victor Hugo, Alfred de Musset, and Charles Sainte-Beuve, all acknowledged his influence. He wrote fantastic short stories, among which are Smarra 1821, Trilby 1822, Histoire du roi de Bohème et de ses sept châteaux 1830, La Fée aux miettes 1832, and Inès de las Sierras 1837.
