Nomura Securities Co., Ltd

The leading securities and investment banking company in Japan, which plays a central role in the core securities business of the Nomura Group (an international conglomerate). It provides individual investors and corporate clients with investment management and advisory services and securities underwriting.

Established in 1925 in Osaka, Nomura Securities is the oldest brokerage firm in Japan. In 1991 Nomura admitted to paying Y16.5 billion in compensation to favoured clients (including companies in London and Hong Kong) for losses sustained on the stock market since the beginning of 1990, resulting in tax evasion of Y9 billion. It was also shown to have links with organized crime.
