Nordheim, Arne (1931– )

Norwegian composer. He studied in Oslo and with Vagn Holmboe (1909–1996) in Copenhagen. He was active as a performer and as a composer of electronic music from 1968.

Works

Ballet and dramatic

three ballets, including Ariadne (1977), The Tempest (1979), The End of Time (1981); musical play for TV Favola (1965).

Electronic music

Colorazione (1968), Pace (1970), and Osaka-Music (1970).

Orchestral

Tenebrae for cello and orchestra (1982), Varder for trumpet and orchestra (1986).

Chamber and choral

Be Not Afeared for soprano, baritone, and ensemble (1978); Rendezvous for strings (1987); other chamber and choral music.
