North Bend

Village in Hamilton County, in the far southwest of Ohio; population (1990) 550. North Bend is situated on the Ohio River 18 km/11 mi west of Cincinnati.

One of the earliest European settlements in the state, North Bend was established in 1789, and was the birthplace of US president Benjamin Harrison in 1833. His grandfather, President William H Harrison, spent much of his adult life here; his tomb lies behind the Harrison Monument in nearby William Henry Harrison State Park.

North Bend

City in Coos County, southwestern Oregon, on an inlet of the Pacific Ocean, immediately north of Coos Bay; population (1990) 9,600.

Settled in 1853, North Bend is a port serving an area where fishing and forestry predominate. It has sawmills, a shipyard, and fish and crab packing plants. Mining machinery and plywood are manufactured, and tourism is important.
