North Fork

North Fork

Northern peninsula of the East End of Long Island, terminating at Orient Point. This rural region is part of Riverhead and Southeld towns, in Suffolk County, New York State.

North Fork is the centre of a growing wine industry, and is dotted with small villages, the largest of which is Greenport; population (1990) 2,100. Sailing and fishing for leisure, and general tourism are of increasing importance to the economy of the area.
