North Haven

North Haven

Town in New Haven County, southern Connecticut; population (1990) 22,200. It lies just northeast of New Haven on the Quinnipiac River and Interstate 91.

Originally part of New Haven, North Haven became independent in 1786. Early industries here included brickmaking and shipbuilding. Today, the town is a residential and industrial suburb producing chemicals, tools, aircraft engine parts, and machinery. It includes the villages of Montowese and Clintonville.
