North Kansas City

City in Clay County, northwestern Missouri; population (1990) 4,100. It is situated on the northern bank of the Missouri River, surrounded by Kansas City, Missouri and opposite Kansas City, Kansas.

The city was founded in 1912 by the North Kansas City Development Company as a model residential suburb for factory workers. Its industries include food processing and the manufacture of metal products and paints. Kansas City Downtown Airport is located immediately to the southwest.
