North Miami Beach

City in Dade County, southeastern Florida; population (1990) 35,400. North Miami Beach is on Maule Lake and the Oleta River, which connect to the northern end of Biscayne Bay, 19 km/12 mi north of Miami.

North Miami Beach was created by merging the towns of Fulford and Fulford-by-the-Sea in 1931. A resort and suburban residential centre, it also processes local citrus fruit and has light industry, such as the manufacture of pet food and sweets. Despite its name, it is not adjacent to Miami Beach.
