North Platte

River in Colorado and Wyoming, USA; length 1,094 km/680 mi. In Nebraska it unites with the South Platte River to form the Platte River. The North Platte rises in north central Colorado in the Medicine Bow, Park, and Rabbits Ear ranges. It flows north into Wyoming, bending southeast before turning westwards into Nebraska. Its waters are used as part of a power, irrigation, and flood-control project.
