North Vancouver

City (population (1991) 38,400) and district municipality (population 75,200) in the Greater Vancouver Regional District, southwestern British Columbia. North Vancouver lies along the North Shore of Burrard Inlet, opposite Vancouver.

North Vancouver is a seaport, shipping cereals, lumber, and iron ore. Other industries here include shipbuilding and sawmilling. Tourism and outdoor recreation are also important sources of revenue in an area with abundant mountains, streams, and parks. The Capilano Suspension Bridge for pedestrians is located here; with a span of 137 m/450 ft, it is one of the world's longest such structures.
