Northbridge
| Type of chip inside modern computers. It is the role of the Northbridge chip to act as a buffer between the central processing unit (CPU), the main memory, and the expansion bus. The advantage of the design is that the same set of ‘wires’ are used by the CPU to talk to the main memory and the input/output devices. |
