Northcote, James (1746–1831)
| English painter. He was the pupil of the portraitist Joshua Reynolds, of whom he wrote a biographical memoir 1813. He is of less note for his portraits than as a conversationalist on art and artists, described in William Hazlitt's book Conversations of James Northcote, Esq., RA. |
