Norton, Mary Alice (1860–1928)| US home economist. She was a Smith College graduate and associate of the US engineer and chemist Ellen Richards, with whom she helped to prepare Home Sanitation (1887). She taught domestic science in New England schools and at the University of Chicago (1900–13), and edited the Journal of Home Economics (1915–21). She was born in Lanesville, Massachusetts. |
