Norup, Bent (1936– )

Danish baritone. He studied in Munich and New York. He made his debut at Copenhagen in 1970 as Kurwenal. He sang in Denmark until 1973 and then performed widely in Germany, appearing at Bayreuth in 1983 as the Wanderer in Siegfried and Gunther. He has sung in the USA and throughout Europe as Amfortas, Klingsor, Sachs, Iago, and Scarpia. He sang the role of Telramund at Venice (1990) and Barcelona (1992).
