Norwood, Cyril (1875–1956)

English educationist. He was chair of the Board of Education committee asked to report on the curriculum and examinations in secondary schools in 1941. The findings of this committee, which gave support to the tripartite system of grammar, modern, and technical schools, were very influential and are contained in a report widely known as the Norwood Report.

Norwood was appointed headmaster of Bristol Grammar School in 1906 and ten years later went to Marlborough College, where he introduced drastic reforms 1916–25. From 1926 to 1934 he was headmaster of Harrow. He was knighted in 1938.
