Notot, Joseph (1751-1840)

French organist and composer. As a child he was sent to Paris to be educated. There he was discovered as a extempore player on the organ by Leclerc, the organist of the church of Saint- Germain-des-Prés, who undertook to teach him. Later he became organist at Arras, but the Revolution drove him to England, where he gave up music.

four symphonies; three piano concertos; piano sonatas.
