Nowak, Leopold (1904–1991)

Austrian musicologist. He wrote books on Haydn (published 1951) and Bruckner (published 1947, 1973); in 1945 he succeeded Robert Haas as editor of the complete works of Bruckner.

He studied in Vienna and was professor at the University there 1932–73. He was director of the music division at the Vienna National Library 1946–69.
