Nowra, Louis (1950– )

Australian dramatist, novelist, and screenwriter. He is best known for his plays which include Inner Voices (1977), set in Russia in 1794, Visions (1979), set in Paraguay of the 1860s, The Precious Woman (1981), set in China of the 1920s, and Byzantine Flowers (1989), part of a series about the effects of colonialism on Aboriginal Australians.

He wrote the screenplays for Map of the Human Heart (1993), Cosi (1996), Matchmaker (1997), and Black and White (2002).
