Nozze di Figaro, Le

    0.02 sec.

Nozze di Figaro, Le

Opera by Mozart (libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, based on Beaumarchais's comedy La Folle Journée, ou Le Mariage de Figaro). The story concerns Figaro and Susanna, who are to be married, but first Figaro is pursued by the elderly Marcellina (who turns out to be his mother), and Susanna must evade the eager Count Almaviva. All the characters must disentangle themselves from a web of mistaken identities. The opera was produced in Vienna, at the Burgtheater on 1 May 1786.
