Numerian (AD 254–284)

Roman emperor from AD 283. He was the younger son and successor of Carus and brother of Carinus, with whom he succeeded jointly to the throne. Eight months later he was murdered while returning from the east, perhaps at the instigation of the praetorian prefect Arrius Aper.
