Nyren, John (1764–1837)

English writer on cricket, the son of Richard Nyren, cricketer and captain of the famous Hambledon Club, Hampshire. A moderate cricketer himself, his fame rests on his account of the Hambledon players, The Cricketers of My Time, which is regarded as a classic of English sporting literature. The work was first published in 1833 as part of The Young Cricketer's Tutor, edited by Charles Cowden Clarke and first published in 1833.
