O'Connor, Bryan Daniel (1946– )

US astronaut. He was pilot of the Atlantis space shuttle in November 1985, the first mission to deploy four satellites. In June 1991, he commanded the Columbia space shuttle on the first mission dedicated to life science studies. O'Connor was selected as an astronaut in 1980. He became director of NASA's Space Shuttle Program in 1994, resigning in 1996.
