O'Neill, Dennis (1948- )

Welsh tenor. He studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and made his debut in 1973 at the Wexford Festival, in Ivan Susannin. He sang with the State Opera of South Australia (1974-76), Scottish Opera, and Welsh National Opera from 1979 (where he made his debut as Alfredo). From 1979 he sang in London at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Flavio (Norma), Rodolfo, the Duke of Mantua, Edgardo, Foresto (Attila), and Radames (1994). He made his US debut at Dallas in 1983, as Edgardo; he first sang in New York at the Metropolitan Opera House in 1987, as Rodolfo.
