Oberlin, Russell (1925– )

US counter-tenor. He studied at the Juilliard School, New York and was a co-founder with Noah Greenberg of the New York Pro Musica Antiqua, which has given many performances of Medieval and Renaissance music. In 1961 he sang Oberon in A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. Well known as a concert singer, he has also recorded Handel's Messiah.
