Obion

River in western Tennessee, USA. Formed by the confluence of the North Fork and South Fork rivers in Obion County, 11 km/7mi eastnortheast of the town of Obion, it flows southwest past Obion to join the Mississippi River at Hales Point, a distance of 80 km/50 mi. It receives the Forked Deer River at Moss Island, just before entering the Mississippi.

The South Fork, 89 km/55 mi in length, has two major tributaries: the Middle Fork and the Rutherford Fork. The 80 km/50 mi–long Middle Fork, which rises near Paris, in Henry County, enters the South Fork 11 km/7 mi southeast of its confluence with the North Fork. The Rutherford Fork, 80 km/50 mi long, rises near the Carroll-Henderson county border and passes northeast of Milan and past Rutherford, once the home of the folk hero Davy Crockett, before entering the South Fork from the south, 3 km/2 mi east of its confluence with the Middle Fork. The length of the North Fork is 72 km/45 mi.
