Ocean City

Resort town in Worcester County, southeastern Maryland, USA, on an Atlantic barrier beach just north of Assateague Island, 45 km/28 mi east of Salisbury; population (2000) 7,200. To the south Ocean City Inlet, connects Assawoman and Sinepuxent bays with the Atlantic. It is Maryland's largest ocean resort and a seafood shipping point. Tourist facilities include marlin fishing, water sports, and a boardwalk amusement district. Ocean City developed after the railway reached the area in 1878, and is now the eastern terminus of the US 50 interstate highway.

Ocean City

Resort town in Cape May County, New Jersey, USA, on the Peck Beach peninsula, 16 km/10 mi southwest of Atlantic City; population (1990) 15,500. The 13 km/8 mi–long peninsula forms a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Great Egg Harbor Bay. Established as a summer resort by Christian ministers in 1879, the town became a fashionable family beach community.

Ocean City's boardwalk contains a Music Pier, entertainment centre, and the Wonderland Pier amusement park and Ferris wheel.
