Ochmann, Wiesław (1937– )

Polish tenor. He sang Donizetti's Edgardo at Bytom in 1959 and appreared with Warsaw Opera from 1964 as Lensky, Cavaradossi, and Verdi's Arrigo. He has made guest appearances at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, and in Berlin, Paris, and Prague. He sang Tamino and Don Ottavio at Glyndebourne (1968–70), and appeared in New York at the Metropolitan Opera House from 1975, as Dmitri (Boris Godunov), Lensky, and Golitsin in Khovanshchina. In San Francisco he sang Hermann and Idomeneo in 1987 and 1989. Other roles include Fritz in Schreker's Der ferne Klang (Brussels 1988) and the Shepherd in Szymanowski's King Roger (London 1990).
