Ogunquit

Town in York County, southwestern Maine, USA, on the Gulf of Maine, 48 km/30 mi southwest of Portland; population (1990) 1,000. A summer resort, it has an artists' colony, and is celebrated for its theatre, the Ogunquit Playhouse. The town was settled on the site of a former Abnaki camping ground.
