Oimyakon

Village in the Republic of Sakha, eastern Siberia, Russian Federation, situated on the Indigirka River. Oimyakon is situated in mountainous terrain 450 km/280 mi north of the port of Okhotsk. The lowest air temperature in the northern hemisphere (-71.1°C) was recorded here in 1964.
