Old Town| Original settlement area and state historical park in San Diego, California, USA, 5 km/3 mi northwest of New Town (the modern downtown). The Spanish established a settlement from the 1770s at the foot of Presidio Hill on the San Diego River, just southeast of Mission Bay. Numerous 19th-century houses survive in the 5.3-ha/13-ac park. The centre of San Diego until the 1870s, Old Town is now a major tourist attraction. |

A market gardening and timber processing centre, it produces wood pulp and timber products, and specializes in the manufacture of canoes. The American Indian Penobscot reservation is located on Indian Island, in the river to the north of the town centre. |

Thus was the flower of English chivalry pitted against the King and his party, which included many nobles whose kinsmen were with De Montfort; so that brother faced brother, and father fought against son, on that bloody Wednesday, before the old town of Lewes. |
