Olds

Town in southern-central Alberta, Canada, 89 km/55 mi north of Calgary; population (1996 est) 5,800. Situated in a fertile agricultural region, it has feed mills, grain elevators, and creameries, as well as oil and natural gas resources. It was incorporated in 1905.

The town was founded in 1891 after the construction of the Calgary–Edmonton railway, and named after Canadian Pacific Railway engineer George Olds. Olds College was established here in 1913.
