Olivetan, Pierre Robert (c 1506–1538)

French Protestant reformer. A cousin of John Calvin, whose religious development he directly influenced, he was a scholar of Greek and Hebrew. He is best-known for his translation of the Bible into French, published in Neuchâtel in 1535, a work which had a profound effect on later French translations of the Bible.
