Olney

Seat of Richland County, southeastern Illinois, USA, 48 km/30 mi northwest of Vincennes, Indiana; population (1990) 8,700. Situated on an interstate highway, it is the trading centre of an agricultural area, with some light industry. Olney Central College was established in 1962. Other features include a bird sanctuary and a protected population of white (albino) squirrels.
