Olympians, The

Opera by Arthur Bliss (libretto by J B Priestley), produced in London at Covent Garden on 29 September 1949. In the story, Rich Lavatte has arranged for his daughter Madeleine to marry an old nobleman, but she falls in love with the young poet Hector. After the appearance of Greek gods, Lavatte is foiled and the lovers are united.
