Ommanney, Erasmus (1814–1904)

English admiral. He took part in the Battle of Navarino in 1827 and discovered the first traces of the fate of the naval explorer John Franklin in 1850.

For his scientific researches he received the Arctic medal in 1851, was made Fellow of the Royal Society in 1868, and was knighted in 1877, being advanced to admiral the same year.
