Onalaska

Town in La Crosse County, western Wisconsin, USA, on the Black River and Lake Onalaska in the upper Mississippi River valley, 8 km/5 mi north of La Crosse and 8 km/5 mi east of the Minnesota border; population (1990) 11,300. Situated in a market gardening and dairy farming area, Onalaska is a food processing centre producing canned vegetables, pickles, and dairy goods. It is also a summer resort. The La Crosse Municipal Airport is situated on French Island to the west.
