Ontario County

County of western-central New York State, USA, in the Finger Lakes; area 1,668 sq km/644 sq mi; population (1990) 95,100. The county is partially bounded to the southeast by Seneca Lake, and contains lakes Canandaigua, Honeoye, and Canadice. Its seat is Canandaigua, which has some light industry. Industrial development has also taken place in Geneva. Fruit and vegetables are grown, and there are vineyards; other agricultural produce includes poultry, grain, and dairy goods. Tourism and resorts are important throughout the county.
