Open Software Foundation

In computing, software house created in 1988 by several major industry players (including Bull, DEC, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and Philips) to engineer a standard operating system and user interface for the Unix platform. The OSF joined with X/Open to form The Open Group 1996.
