Orange County

Metropolitan area of southwest California, USA, adjoining Los Angeles County, to the northwest, and San Diego County, to the southeast; area 2,075 sq km/801 sq mi; population (1996) 2,636,900. It is bisected by the Santa Ana River. Heavily urbanized, especially in the northwest, it is one of the wealthiest counties in the USA, and has increased tenfold in population since 1950. Industries include aerospace and electronics; agricultural produce includes Oranges and strawberries are grown. Santa Ana is its administrative headquarters. There are numerous military installations resorts, and tourist attractions in Orange County, including Disneyland.
