Orazi ed i Curiazi, Gli

Opera by Domenico Cimarosa (libretto by A S Sografi), produced in Venice at the Teatro La Fenice on 26 December 1796. The story concerns two families, the Horatius family of Rome and the Curiatius family of Alba, who are traditional enemies. Curiatius' betrothal to Horatia brings the families together. However, Rome and Alba go to battle and Curiatius is killed by Horatia's brother, Marcus, who then kills Horatia for not rejoicing with him.

Opera by Saverio Mercadante (libretto by Salvatore Cammarano), produced in Naples at the Teatro San Carlo on 10 November 1846.
