Orefice, Giacomo (1865–1922)

Italian composer. He studied at the Bologna Liceo Musicale, where he was taught by Mancinelli. In 1909 he became professor of composition at the Milan Conservatory.

operas Consuelo (after George Sand, 1895), Chopin (on music by Chopin, 1901), Cecilia (1902), Mosè (1905), Pane altrui, Radda, Il castello del sogno and others.

Instrumental

symphony in D minor, Sinfonia del bosco, Anacreontiche for orchestra (1917); suite for cello and orchestra; Riflessioni ed ombre for quintet, piano trio; two violin and piano sonatas, cello and piano sonata; Preludi del mare, Quadri di Böcklin, Crepuscoli, Miraggi for piano.
