Orel, Alfred (1889–1967)

Austrian musicologist. A lawyer and civil servant at first, he studied music with Adler when nearly 30. He was later appointed professor at Vienna University and head of the music department of the municipal library. He wrote works on Bruckner and coedited with Robert Haas the edition of the original versions of Bruckner's works.
